About the Position

We are seeking a Transportation Engineer I to join our growing Transportation team in Jacksonville, Florida. The ideal candidate possesses experience as a Transportation Engineering Intern. The successful candidate would be mentored by our dynamic team of engineering professionals while supporting a range of transportation design and planning projects.

About Our Team

Our team of civil engineering professionals includes transportation design engineers, traffic engineers, and planners. Our transportation team is engaged in projects throughout the southeast, and our existing client base includes state transportation agencies such as the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), as well as various county and local municipalities. The successful candidate would be an integral part of our growing team and would have the opportunity to engage across markets and geographies.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience and Knowledge using FDOT Publications
  • EI certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Proficient with relevant software such as Microstation, OpenRoads, Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, practices, and techniques, including AASHTO guidelines, FDOT Publications such as FDOT Design Manual (FDM), FDOT Standard Plans for Road and Bridge Construction, and MUTCD.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work.
  • Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Performs accurate, legible, and well thought out design calculations.
  • Reviews own work before submitting.
  • Works with minimal supervision; is self-motivated and has initiative.
  • May be required to work after typical hours as project requirements and company needs dictate.
  • Updates and maintains body of knowledge related to training, degree, or job responsibilities.
  • Completes assigned work on time and within budget.
  • Utilize knowledge of FDOT, municipal design standards and criteria, and practices and policies.
