We are looking for a talented and experienced Systems Technology Administrator to join our team in Jacksonville and support our local client.

This is role will encompass a variety of technologies and require advanced technical work involving the planning, analyzing, and assisting in the implementation, maintenance and modification of emergency systems and supporting technology infrastructures within fixed and deployable assets. In this role you will provide direction to technical staff for daily production and operational support, as well as, manage the delivery of technology-based projects. A key to success in this role will be the ability to partner and collaborate with key stakeholders and technology vendors to ensure the successful delivery of maintenance and support of all systems.

The work requires broad technical experience, preferably in an Emergency Response environment, where systems reliability, availability, and performance are paramount to the mission of the department. Additional demonstrated technical experience is required with PC and laptop workstations, radio communications, wired and wireless communications, VOIP telephony, satellite communications, copper networks, and audio-visual systems (including video conferencing solutions). This position will require knowledge and application of local, state, and federal regulations, laws, procedures, and operation requirements usually acquired through a combination of training and on the job experience. Strong communication skills at all levels of an organization are essential to the success in this role.

The work is performed mainly in an office environment, but field work will be required at remote locations where there are some known risks and hazards, somewhat predictable and mostly controllable. This work classification and role are considered essential to ensuring the integrity and continued function of emergency systems facilities and equipment. In order to provide vital support to the client, this classification may require after hours duty and/or reporting to work or be available in an on-call status, in the event of an emergency or disaster, if so directed. The successful candidate has the appropriate licenses and ability to operate a motor vehicle, computers, GIS application software, and 911 communication equipment.

The physical demands include walking, standing, sitting, stooping, and bending, and occasionally lifting objects weighing less than 50 lbs. The work is performed under limited supervision and is subject to established standards, policies, and procedures.

The successful candidate will be required to pass CJIS certification within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Configure the Computer Aided Dispatch System for deployment and modifications in apparatus

  • Champion and manage technology implementation projects

  • Manages and holds vendors accountable for the delivery of maintenance and support services in accordance with Service Level Agreements

  • Participates in incident meetings to address systems problems and collaborates with internal and external resources on resolutions and root-cause analysis

  • Prioritizes tasks and directs staff in their day-to-day assignments

  • Provide support during emergency declarations and preparations for emergencies

  • Maintain and configure Mobile Data Terminals and emergency vehicle systems

  • Perform maintenance on malfunctioning hardware using specialized equipment

  • Conduct annual technology assets and data cards inventory

  • Install, test and configure Satellite Communication System components

  • Performs related work as directed by supervisor

Employment Type: contract to hire, full-time hours

Must Have Skills:

  • 6+ years combination of education from an accredited institution and/or experience in Public Safety Emergency Communications

  • Knowledge of personal computer devices (deployment and maintenance)

  • Strong knowledge of computer networking and communication fundamentals

  • Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and work with other technical staff for resolution

  • Aptitude to learn and adapt to new technical challenges as the client grows its technical footprint

  • Knowledge of GIS mapping software, 911 Computer Aided Dispatch System, and equipment

  • Ability to install, test, and configure 911 Computer Aided Dispatch System, and Satellite Communication System

  • Ability to analyze and compile reports utilizing Microsoft tools

  • Ability to maintain and configure Mobile Data Terminals and Mobile Data Gateways

  • Ability to train and provide technical instruction and direction to others

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, class E license required

  • Flexibiity and willingness to work outside normal working hours or on-call when needed

  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with 911 emergency call centers support is highly desired
