Position Overview:

HSJ is seeking an experienced Systems Designer to join our low voltage and security systems design engineering team. This role will work directly with our clients, design partners and internal team to establish design requirements and then collaboratively design systems using 3D (BIM) design tools.

- Design low-voltage and physical security systems utilizing CAD & BIM applications

- Perform design tasks for site and building technologies including telecommunications systems, audio visual, security, and control integrations

- Collaborate with clients, internal staff, and design partners to make sure client standards are met and that all technology requirements and integrations are incorporated into the system design

- Ensure design conformance with established design practices, applicable codes, and client standards

- Stay informed on codes, best practices, and technologies applicable to low-voltage and security systems

- Collaborate with the internal and external project team to execute the project from concept to completion including user requirement meetings, design coordination meetings, site visits, response to RFIs, and submittal reviews and responses

- Help lead junior designers in design development and professional growth


- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Systems Designer or BIM role

- Proficient in Revit and other design tools

- Proficient in creating, reviewing, and maintaining construction documents

- Strong organizational, communication and time management skills

- Extremely detail oriented

- Ability to work on multiple assignments across various projects

- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment

- Preferred: Desire and ability to obtain advanced degree/certifications (i.e. PE, RCDD, MS) through employer-sponsored continuing education program

- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, telecommunications, or similar 4-year degree


- $65,000 - $85,000 salary with bonus potential based on experience, certifications, degree and training.
