The CDL- A: Delivery Service Technician role is to deliver rental equipment and provide basic operations training on the proper and appropriate use. Professionalism and a service orientation are key requirements for this role. Good customer service and communication skills are a must. The DST is the front line and face of the business. Additionally, the DST will be responsible for preventative maintenance and cleaning rental equipment prior to and after each rental delivery.
Ensures daily rental readiness of equipment through visual inspection and methodical preventative maintenance to ensure operational safety
Performs troubleshooting involving malfunctioning equipment and makes basic repairs
Local delivery to and pick up of rental equipment and supplies from customer location
Demonstration of proper and safe equipment operation to customers on delivery
Accurately obtain required signatures on rental contracts
Ability to leverage other members of field service teams to ensure deliveries are made on time and without failure
Learn and demonstrate Customer Service Standards for delivery service.
Complete proper check-in and check-out procedures at equipment depot
Participate in training events
Perform other duties assigned by the Area Rental Manager or authorized personnel
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in safe operation of construction machinery within rental industry, and working understanding of load securement and transport
Ability to conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and make minor mechanical repairs to equipment
Valid CDL - Class A Driver's license and DOT Physical Examination (Medical Card).
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
50%- Performs delivery and pick-ups of rental equipment from stores and customer job sites utilizing company trucks and trailers.
20% Safely loads and unloads equipment, and demonstrates safe and proper operation to customers upon delivery
15%- Performs troubleshooting and makes basic repairs on equipment
15%- Performs preventative maintenance equipment to ensure operational safety and rental readiness.
Nature and Scope:
Reports to a Regional Rental Manager.
Environmental Job Requirements:
- Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.

Certifications & Licenses:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A
Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
Safe driving record and acceptable motor vehicle report (MVR)
- Experience in safe operation of construction machinery within rental industry, including safely loading and unloading
-Strong customer service mindset, including having worked in an industry or company that provides customer facing experience
-Adept at using handheld tablet application technology in order to properly document work performed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
-Experience driving delivery trucks and towing trailers
-Ability to safely drive an maneuver in high traffic or congested city zones and tight areas
-Ability to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and make minor mechanical repairs to equipment
-Ability to properly load and tie down equipment for safe hauling and transport
-Ability to communicate effectively with managers, co-workers and customers
