The Community Health Educator is responsible for the management of the Health Education Program including the ability to assess health education and information needs for members and providers, develop appropriate learning materials and programs, assess program effectiveness, and provide analytical summaries of program participation and effectiveness.

A requirement of this position is that you live in District of Columbia, Washington area. Candidate must be able to work in the community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Health education events and programs for Enrollees to promote improved health outcomes, including in person enrollee and community events
  • Demonstrate an ability to deliver effective coaching in a manner that promotes behavior change for the DC DSNP population
  • Use social networking media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter) to promote the events and activities
  • Conduct Telephone calls and connect with enrollees to introduce new Enrollees to the UnitedHealthcare during the initial ninety (90) day period of enrollment
  • Aid current Enrollees with completing Medicaid renewal forms, as applicable, and within sixty (60) days of loss of Medicaid eligibility, assist former Enrollees to restore Medicaid eligibility
  • Appropriately adapt coaching methods and education methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific needs of each clientele served
  • Demonstrate established customer service behaviors and standards
  • Develop and/or provide health education material to a variety of enrollees
  • Develop articles for member facing website
  • Collect and trend health education from internal sources (Nurse Line, Marketing Community Events)
  • Develop appropriate community events to address members with chronic conditions or in need of medical services
  • Perform post-event evaluations and summarize findings
  • Act as a health educator liaison with internal teams including but not limited to:
    • Marketing
    • Network Management
    • Compliance
    • Operations
    • Utilization Management
    • Attend Consumer Advocate Committee and Consumer Advisory Board Meetings as a representative of the Quality Department
    • Work in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer to determine appropriate health education activities to close member gaps in care

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of experience event planning
  • 2+ years of experience in community engagement
  • 2+ years of experience managing communications, social media, and content development
  • 2+ years of experience including advanced knowledge of how social platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Tik Tok, GIPHY, etc.) and their community's work
  • 2+ years of experience in PowerPoint presenting information to audiences
  • Knowledge of social media measurement, analysis, and reporting
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office to include in Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Project Management skills
  • Ability to multitask with several projects with detail at once
  • DC Residency

  • Bilingual
  • Familiar with Medicaid Guidelines
  • DC public schools or the University of the District of Columbia background
