Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with peer leaders to develop and execute compliance initiatives across multiple teams/functions and programs in order to ensure IT services are able to meet contractual and compliance obligations
  • Consult with, advise and guide business and technology delivery teams to define and maintain an effective suite of controls adapting to changes in products, business processes and technology solutions
  • Improve alignment between business, IT, and security organizations by developing coordinated compliance program components and performance measurements that directly support overall business objectives
  • Establish effective working relationships and build credibility within the IT organization to support a culture of ethics and compliance
  • Develop, define and execute an integrated compliance strategies roadmap to capture efficiencies while ensuring alignment with and support of Governance, Risk and Compliance programs, and with existing and upcoming regulations. Scope includes: SOX, GLBA, HIPAA, PCI, SOC, NIST CSF, NIST Privacy, data protection (e.g. CPRA), and others as assigned
  • Facilitate adoption of best-in-industry IT, Security, and other policies to remain in compliance with regulations with supporting implementations leveraging risk-based approaches appropriate for a growing public company
  • Define, launch, and operate IT Compliance services. Develop value-based criteria and thresholds to migrate current IT Compliance activities to incorporate IT services concepts by establishing an IT Compliance Service Catalogue
  • Facilitate periodic internal and external assessments of control effectiveness to ensure that these assessments are conducted in an efficient manner and that any issues and exceptions identified in the operation of controls are promptly and enduringly corrected
  • Maintain an accurate and continuously updated inventory of all IT and Security controls including their objectives, operational processes, and responsible control owner
  • Lead a team of IT compliance specialists, managing and carrying out the personnel actions including but not limited to hiring and scheduling; training and evaluating; coaching and managing performance; making salary and other compensation recommendations; taking corrective or disciplinary action as needed
  • Track all compliance activities / issues
  • Oversee remediation, corrective action plans, and ongoing monitoring to address findings resulting from audits, assessments, compliance reviews, and self-identified issues
  • Deliver targeted compliance training and communications
  • Establishes and develops a relationship and rapport with 3rd party vendors to assess their current performance levels as compared to contract requirements/service level agreement (SLA)
  • Interpret, communicate, and implement company policies and procedures which promote appropriate controls and governance, confidentiality of customer and company information, and compliance with all state and federal laws
  • Team serves as primary contact for production issue notification, escalation and resolution of day-to-day operations including monitoring of key performance indicators
  • Provides clear direction to a team of direct reports to achieve department goals and metrics
  • Ensure to collaborate with IT areas to assure vendor partners effectively manage plus contracts are completely leveraged

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years overall IT Compliance experience
  • Significant experience with a public company compliance environment, including SOX, GLBA, HIPAA and other regulatory regimes applicable to financial and healthcare services industries
  • Significant experience in the identification and remediation of control gaps and deficiencies, including Significant Deficiencies and Material Weakness
  • Experience partnering with strategic support vendors to drive cost efficiency
  • Experience leading multiple teams and leaders – capable of motivating and managing organizations to deliver desired results
  • Expertise with compliance frameworks, such as: NIST, ISO standards, Privacy, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes, SOX, HIPAA, PCI, GLBA, etc.
  • Experience leading teams through complex, highly regulated processes
  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, program portfolio management, application infrastructure, and secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies

Preferred Qualifcation:

  • Ability to lead and influence at multiple levels of the organization

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $134,200 to $257,700. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $134,200 to $257,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
