Job Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates daily activities in the areas of general administration and business support at a manufacturing plant. Particular focus is on the HR function.
  2. Role includes coordinating several aspects of the plant safety program.
  3. Serves as an on-site resource to assist employees with understanding and using their benefit coverages.
  4. Provides support to various employee engagement initiatives such as recognition programs, event scheduling, etc. Assist and coordinate plant celebrations including service awards, retirements, Quarter Century Club, plant picnic, golf tournament, etc.
  5. Integral in generating messages and communications that help keep employees informed of news, events, etc.
  6. Maintenance of the HR filing system.
  7. Cross train in and perform other office admin tasks as needed.
  8. Perform effective implementation and daily administration of Human Resource programs, including but not limited to benefits and compensation administration, training, employee relations, staffing, etc.
  9. Collaborate with core recruiting and coordinate local recruiting efforts to assist with staffing of qualified employees by sourcing candidates, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and coordinating the hiring and boarding processes.
  10. Maintain all HR data systems, including both electronic and physical records. Maintain integrity of data in all of USG database systems. Maintain employee files in an organized and efficient manner.
  11. Perform or assist with special HR, Safety, and Employee Relations Engagement projects, as assigned or required.
  12. Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures and takes personal responsibility for safety.
  13. Deliver training as needed
  14. Prepare reporting information for the HR Service Center and Corporate Centers of Expertise (COEs), such as Employee Relations, Benefits, etc., as needed
  15. Assist with the Complaint Process including Peer Reviews, an employee appeal process for discharge cases, including conducting the meeting and documenting results
  16. Participate in monthly facility inspections
  17. Support model safety programs as requested
  18. Assist with injury management including assisting with doctor appointments, random drug screens, potential audiometric threshold shifts, etc.
  19. Publish monthly metrics, update plant bulletin boards and the Marlin electronic communication system
  20. Develop working knowledge of all company benefits
  21. Assist with completion of unemployment claim information
  22. Assist with leave of absence issues, as necessary
  23. Collaborates with the Divisional Human Resources Manager with responsibility for the plant.


  1. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Any advanced education within the administrative support field, and particularly human resources, is a plus.
  2. Three or more years of proven work experience in an HR-related support capacity is preferred.
  3. Understanding of general HR practices and policies. Some exposure to workplace safety administration is also a plus.
  4. Possess outstanding people skills and have the ability to build rapport within a diverse workforce environment. Fostering high levels of trust with employees is crucial to this role.
  5. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Position requires well developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple tasks.
  7. Be a self-starter and have the confidence and ability to manage own time productively.
  8. Versatile and readily adaptable to new, different, or changing circumstances. Able to stay calm when confronted with high emotions.
  9. Detail oriented in the generation and maintenance of records, filing systems, etc.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office software and possess the aptitude to learn new computer applications as required.
