Position description

The Cardiovascular Device Nurse will provide thorough, competent interrogations and reprogramming of cardiac devices implanted in patients, including, but not limited to Pacemakers, Implantable Loop Recorders, and Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators. This will include device interrogations completed in the inpatient, procedural, and outpatient settings as well as remotely monitored patients. The Cardiovascular Device Nurse will complete initial interrogations, report generation, charges, and documentation in the Electronic Health Record and Device Management Systems as well as bring acute/urgent issues to the attention of providers. The nurse collaborates closely with other members of the Heart Rhythm Service Line care team as well as other allied health staff and providers external to the department.
Qualifications
Graduate of a baccalaureate Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited nursing program. If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN or CCNE, at least one year of RN experience (within the last 5 years) in an applicable care setting is required. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
Cardiac Device experience is preferred.
Additional qualifications
Excellent communication skills (verbal & written). Expereince working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic health record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations w/in the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, excellent critical thinking skills.
License or certification
Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. ACLS also required.
