Job Details

This position is for a Litigation Paralegal to undertake a variety of paralegal duties in support of our Personal Injury team for our Houston office and Los Angeles office. This position will work under the supervision of the lead attorney in our Houston office. The ideal candidate must be motivated, detail-oriented and experienced working as a litigation paralegal.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Run status reports on the Houston and LA office
Confirm both (Houston and LA) pre-lit departments are pushing the cases through the system and obtaining all the medical and bills necessary to prepare demands
Confirm all litigation deadlines are calendared and discovery is being answered in a timely fashion.
Assist in keeping track of expert deadlines and reports – calendaring and weekly team meeting with both teams.
Assisting with note taking and the distribution of such notes after each weekly meeting. Keeping track of assignments and the accomplishments
Interviewing and screening prospective clients
Preparing witnesses and clients for depositions
Scheduling travel logistics for one or more attorneys
Transcribing legal documents
Scheduling court hearings, depositions, and other proceedings
Trial preparation

Paralegal Certificate and bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of litigation experience;
Experience with medical malpractice preferred but not required;
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
Knowledgeable of procedural rules, including Code of Civil Procedure and Texas Court Rules.
Professional and courteous to clients and staff;
Detail oriented, team-player, positive, energetic, kind, well-spoken with excellent customer service skills;
Perform well in a high level fast-paced environment with minimal supervision;
Skilled with computers and software as well as organized;
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Outlook, Word), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and typing speed over 60 WPM;
Demonstrate good ethics, judgment and maintain the confidentiality of files.
