Role Summary\:

As part of the instrument engineering team at the key manufacturing operation, you will be responsible for the continuing design innovation, improvement and manufacturing implementation and operation support in the area of electro-mechanical industrial monitoring and control application for instrument product line, including digital positioners, conventional instruments, actuation and other automation related products.

As part of the instrument engineering team at the key manufacturing operation, you will be responsible for the continuing design innovation, improvement and manufacturing implementation and operation support in the area of electro-mechanical industrial monitoring and control application for instrument product line, including digital positioners, conventional instruments, actuation and other automation related products.

In this role Lead Instrument Engineer, you will\:

  • Work across functions, across globe and bridge the design team and manufacturing team on product research and development for product on time market introduction
  • Work on engineering sustaining activities to support all existing products to meet the business-critical needs and the demand for customer satisfaction.
  • Be responsible for compliance and continuing improvement for product safety, quality, performance and cost.
  • Collaborate cross functionally (including requisition engineering, field service, etc) for all product lifecycle support where customers determine our successes.
  • Work with PLM tools (e.g. Enovia) and ERP (e.g. SAP) to support the implementation from design to manufacturing
  • Lead root cause analysis for manufacturing and field issues related to the products
  • Support TRS (Technical Regulation Standard) for product compliance (including HAZLOC certification) for existing products and new products
  • Drive continuous improvement and simplification task/project to eliminate waste and to increase productivities
  • Participate in verification and validation tests at the manufacturing sites to support product development/improvement and customer solutions
  • Participate in product design review, as well as safety and compliance review. Also participate in quality and material review board review as needed

Qualifications/Requirements\:

  • Bachelors Degree in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial product design and development
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in instrumentation, and automation related products, preferably control valves related experience

  • Bachelors Degree in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from accredited college or university preferably mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in instrumentation, and automation related products, preferably control valves related experience
  • Demonstrated track record of successful new product launch
  • Demonstrated track record of successful cross-functional support
  • Demonstrated track record of successful root cause analysis of complex systems
  • Experience with the BHGE new product introduction process
  • Value Engineering, tear down, cost out, Lean Six-Sigma and DFMA and DFM experience
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
  • Expert in breaking down complex problems to actionable tasks
  • Expert in estimating time for product development and support tasks
  • Results-oriented and able to complete tasks on schedule; Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
  • Strong working experience in electro-mechanical product development
  • Passion for and experience in Digital Industrial solution
  • Working experience in Control Valve and Instruments solution.
  • Proven track record in designing, developing and certifying industrial control equipment for use in Hazardous Location including Intrinsic Safety and Explosion Proof protection, including knowledge and experience of IEC, ATEX, etc.
  • Working experience with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks), engineering analysis tools (e.g. Matlab, Mathcad), and ERP/PLM system (e.g. SAP, Enovia), etc.
  • Demonstrated coaching/mentoring ability to other team members
  • Highly self-motivated with ability to meet goals within a matrix organizational environment
