Job Summary: Responsible for all tasks associated with maintenance in and outside of the buildings. Job Duties: Performs outside cleanup, cutting, trimming, and edging of all grassed areas and lawns. Provides maintenance of flower, shrub, tree beds and replacement thereof. Provides general leaf clean-up, tree pruning, tree removal, sod installation, seeding, fertilizing, liming, thatching, aerating, irrigation, erosion, watering, and back-filling. Provides continuous routine maintenance and minor repairs to such ground structures as improved and unimproved roads, parking areas, sidewalks, fences, retaining walls, storm drainage ditches, window wells, and catch basis; heavy weather services (snow removal); refuse collection and disposal, and provides services necessary to cope with emergencies such as those resulting from accidents, natural disasters, breakdown of equipment, floods in buildings from roof leaks, overflowed rest room fixtures, sinks, sprinklers systems, water pipes and other utilities. Handles materials (e.g. loading, unloading, digging, hauling, hoisting, carrying, wrapping, mixing, pouring, spreading); washing and cleaning cars and trucks and department equipment; cleaning grounds, and other areas; and doing other general maintenance work, by hand or using common hand-tools and power equipment. Cleans baseboards, corners and edges. Cleans and disinfect restroom commodes, urinals, showers, partitions, floors and walls. Cleans and disinfect group/shower locker rooms to include all vertical and horizontal walls and lockers. Stocks restroom toilet paper, paper towel, seat cover and soap dispensers. Stocks breakrooms with paper towels and hand soap. Empties trash cans. Collects recyclables and places as directed in collection areas. Cleans water fountains. Cleans interior and exterior glass. Mixes chemicals/cleaning fluids as necessary. Observes and reports need for repair of furniture, building and fixtures. Other duties may be assigned as required. Safety Requirements: Actively participate in the GCR & Project Occupational Safety & Health Program. Perform all assigned work in a safe and reasonable manner that avoids preventable injury to you, co-workers, customers and/or members of the public. Immediately report all occupational injuries, unsafe conditions, and/or property damage. Use and enforce the wearing of personal protective equipment. Always wear a seatbelt while operating/riding in a company vehicle, government vehicle, or a privately owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of GCR. Not be unfit for work due to the presence, ingestion, consumption or inhalation of illegal drugs, prescribed medications, over-the-counter drugs and/or alcohol. Machines, Tools and Equipment Used: Hand and power tools. Mower. Edging. Motorized cleaning equipment, buffer, chariot, extractor, pivot, zepher, etc. Vacuum cleaners, mops, brushes, brooms, ladders, rags, cleaning, and polishing chemicals. Mandatory: Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance/Base Access. Be a citizen of the United States. Submit to and successfully pass Pre-employment Drug Screening and Background Check. High School Diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years' experience in commercial custodian cleaning. Ability to manage a variety of tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work in a team environment and under all weather conditions. Valid State Driver's License and reliable transportation. Ability to work in extreme work environments, such as heat, cold, heights, confined spaces, excessive noise, etc. Be able to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language. Basic computer skills, to include the ability to use software programs such as Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel. Be physically cable of performing the physical requirements of the position on a daily basis. Able to work a non-traditional work week, to include evenings, weekends and/or Holidaysas work demands dictate and/or directed by management. Preferred: Prior military or experience working on Government Contracts. Associates Degree. OSHA 10 certification.
