Job Summery

While providing supervision to younger team members, supports IT Security Managers in delivering key department objectives in operations, risk, compliance, engineering and management processes. As part of a cross-functional team, lead the implementation and administration of security activities and solutions of low to high complexity such as: Incident detection, control and response, design and implement security controls, identify risks and exceptions, and management processes.

Job Duties

Perform core security team activities, such as: Log Monitoring and Detection, Design and Implementation of Security Controls and Configuration, Incident handling, triage and response, risk and exception identification and review, development of standards, solutions, architectures, and runbooks.

Act as a Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert to evaluate, consult, develop and implement secure solutions and security controls based on approved security architectures; analyze business impact and exposure based on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks; perform risk assessments, security compliance audits, vulnerability assessments and/or gap analysis as required.

Support Leadership in developing management policies, processes and procedures for Operations, Risk and Compliance. Plan, oversee, conduct and routinely report on compliance activities, vulnerability management and risk assessments to determine level of compliance with internal and external IT Security requirements.

Support management in execution of the overall security mission by participating in the continuous monitoring and development of policies and standards; technical and operational procedures documentation; checklists; user guides; metrics dashboards and reports.

Perform system administration as required for security systems running various operating systems such as Linux, Unix, Windows, Mac OS, and networking device systems software.

Participate in formal compliance and posture assessments, including recommending evidence gathering, analysis and validation, documentation, and presenting results to internal and external stakeholders.


Advanced knowledge of IT Security theory/practices

Advanced knowledge of IT Security frameworks such as NIST, CIS20, etc

Advanced knowledge of IT Risk Management and Compliance management theory/practices, laws and auditing principles

Working experience with cybersecurity infrastructure building blocks (e.g. firewalls, IDS, IPS, SIEM, DNS, routers, switches, load balancers, and antimalware)

Advanced knowledge of IT Security Engineering principles

Experience with securing, implementing and managing systems and networks mixing Windows, Linux, Unix, and Mac OS devices

Experience working in Security Operations Centers (SOC), Incident Response, Risk or Compliance Teams

Experience implementing and managing Identity and Access Management Systems

Knowledge of Vulnerability Management Systems and Penetration Testing techniques

Business presentation skills • Leadership skills • Knowledge of industry standards such as NIST CSF and 800 series, CIS20, COBIT, etc. • Application development and database management highly desirable • Experience automating processes highly desirable • Practical IAM experience a huge plus • Experience with Agile/Scrum a plus


Relevant work experience

6 years of combined experience in IT Security, 2 years of which must be in Concentration or related field Risk/Compliance/Auditing Security Operations/Networking


High School Diploma %7C GED

Bachelor’s Degree OR 4 years relevant experience, OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 4 years. Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology or related program.

Other Certifications %7C Licenses Required

Current CISSP and 1 or more relevant technical certifications (e.g. CEH, OSCP, CCNA, MCSE)
