About the role  

As a Human Resources Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring all human resource functions.   You will work with our department heads in the recruiting and sourcing process and directly with new hires to successfully onboard them, including orienting new employees on organizational policies, procedures, and benefits. You will be responsible for accurately running the payroll and working with Finance on monthly payroll reporting. You will maintain employee records and help managers with any disciplinary situations as they arise. You will also assist in evaluating employee benefits upon renewal and making benefit program recommendations. In this highly visible employee-facing role, you will have the opportunity to interact with cross-functional teams including finance, IT, and departmental leaders. This is a hybrid job that will primarily be located in our Ponte Vedra Beach, FL office, but will have the opportunity to work remotely part-time. 

Responsibilities   

  • Recruit and onboard new hires, including sending offer letters, getting new hires into Paychex Flex system, hosting HR Welcome Meeting, and processing I-9 verifications 
  • Process semi-monthly payroll accurately using Paychex Flex 
  • Administer health and benefits programs including medical insurance, dental insurance, 401(k), and other benefits  
  • Update employee records with new hire information and/or changes in employment status 
  • Develop and oversee employee performance reviews  
  • Assist managers with employee disciplinary situations and terminations as needed 
  • Implement HR policies throughout the organization 
  • Process employees’ queries and respond in a timely manner 
  • Evaluate benefits and make recommendations for benefit plan improvement upon plan year renewal  
  • Assist with other HR projects and initiates as requested by CFO and CEO 

Qualifications  

  • 3-4 years’ experience as an HR specialist; healthcare and health and wellness background a plus but not required; 
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or relevant field (Preferred) 
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification a plus but not required  
  • Previous experience with Paychex Flex (Preferred)  
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail/accuracy 
  • Prior data entry, payroll, and/or HR Information System experience 
  • Possess high energy and a positive attitude  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Strong active listening skills 
  • Good problem-solving skills  
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
