The Human Resource Generalist and Business Partner is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR team in supporting designated business units. This position provides HR programmatic support, thought partnership, and coaching. The ideal candidate will contribute at both the tactical (hands-on) and strategic levels to support the organization in delivering on our mission, vision, and values.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides full range of HR Generalist support to employees in assigned division(s); support includes, but is not limited to employee relations, policy guidance and interpretation, performance management, and talent management
  • Integrate and partner with HR colleagues in Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Benefits, and Compensation to implement value-add solutions and programs
  • Works closely with front-line leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provides day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to front-line leaders in carrying out their people-related responsibilities (i.e. performance management, attendance management, coaching, employee relations, etc.)
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations as needed
  • Processes terminations and completes off-boarding processes while coordinating with applicable internal departments
  • Reviews and assists managers in the creation of performance improvement documents and plans
  • Supports recruiting activities and on-boarding of new hires, as needed
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and annual review of HR policies and procedures and the employee handbook
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed
  • Reports, maintains and monitors unemployment claims case files, as needed
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources
  • Participates in HR projects as requested


  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field and 5+ years of experience in the field of Human Resources
  • Solid employee relations experience required
  • Ability to think creatively; highly-driven and self-motivated
  • Strong organizational, project planning skills with ability to meet deadlines & manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Thorough knowledge of employment regulations and related laws
  • Ability to build effective, mutually beneficial relationships across the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with customer & quality focus
  • Ability to act with integrity, discretion, and professionalism
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products; working knowledge of HR Information Systems (Oracle a plus)
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or HRCI PHR credential a plus
