The PRN Dietary Aide is responsible for the following:  Assisting with preparing the salad bar, if applicable, maintaining an adequate supply of beverages, ensuring the cafeteria and dining room remain clean at all times, assisting in the preparation and delivery of patient meals and unit supplies, operating the dish machine and recording machine temps and sanitizer PPM, assisting the cook as required and preparing the desserts for each meal and stocking kitchen necessities on each floor as required and stocking cafeteria with needed items. Must be willing to work flexible hours and must be available at least 3 shifts a week.

Job Requirements

  • Must have an 8th grade education or higher and at least 6 months related commercial experience  and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Duties for the Dietary Aide/Cook will include the following: Obtains tray counts by unit for each meal. Assists the cook in preparing each meal tray. Sets up the salad bar and prepares vegetables and other salad bar items in a neat and orderly fashion Must be capable of following instructions and using guidance given by the cook during shift. Prepare and sets up dessert bar according to daily menu. Ensures that the salad bar displays an attractive and tasteful appearance. Washes dishes and maintains the dish room area in a clean and orderly fashion. Utilizes portion control guidelines when preparing food. Records dish machine temperatures and sanitizer strength (PPM) on the temperature log provided. Follows cleaning assignments for the dining room and food preparation area daily. Maintains an adequate supply of beverages and ensures coffee pots remain full. While serving meals on the serving line must provide service excellence assistance to all patients and customers at all times.. Encourages a harmonious working relationship in the department as well as with all employees of the facility. In the dining room, will cleans tables /chairs and sweep / mop the floor and baseboards after the patients exit after each mea When delivering meals to units will take and records food temperatures of the test tray for the specified daily meal When putting leftover food items away ensure that item is wrapped properly, dated and initialed.
