Description

TheDesktop Support Technicianwill support facilities management, site security and project engagement. The candidate must be motivated and self-driven for successwith the ability to perform some network/data tasks as needed.

  • Installation of new desktops/laptops including data migration from old to new machine with defined service levels
  • Re-imaging of new or existing desktop/laptop with defined service levels
  • Installation of additional memory to existing machines with defined service levels
  • Temporary or permanent moves of employee machines with defined service levels
  • Occasional Physical layer troubleshooting
  • Cable patching (copper, CAT, fiber)
  • Various other requests from customer, as needed, with defined service levels
  • Occasional project work is needed after hours when site is not in operation.

Position Details:

  • Long term contract with possible contract extension or hire
  • Standard work hours: Mon-Wed; Sat; Sun: 2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm (Must be flexible as there is a shift rotation every 3mos. When on shift rotation, work week is Mon-Fri)

Experience and Education:

  • 2-3 years of experience in desktop/network support
  • CCNA, CCNT, A+, Microsoft Certified preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Cisco Phones, switches, and routers
  • Must have a basic knowledge of local and wide area networking
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to safely lift heavy objects
  • Must have basic understanding of cable patching processes and procedures
  • Must have basic knowledge of data communications networking.
    • Must be able to assist in troubleshooting issues
    • Must understand network terminology
  • Requires good interpersonal communications skills
    • Must be able to explain technical issues in a way the customer will understand an issue
    • Must be able to interpret a customer's issue in a way that will allow technician to facilitate a resolution

Although this position is primarily a desktop support technician, you may be required to perform the occasional data/network tasks:

  • The installation, troubleshooting and de-installing of network equipment
    • Install/swap out devices (e.g., phone, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches and etc.)
  • The patching cabling between network equipment and customer's network
  • The installation of power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closet
  • Provide hardware break-fix services for network infrastructure
  • Complete Move, Add Change (MAC) requests within the defined service levels
  • Act as interface between customer's associates and management
  • Support inventory management activities
    • Receiving inventory
    • Tagging of assets
    • Tracking spares (crash kits)
    • Updating inventory records
    • Prepare and return damaged equipment
  • Act as an interface, as needed, between associates at the applicable location and centralized project / operations / MAC management
