General Description / Primary Purpose
The Care Services Specialist assists with the student care services system under the direction of the Assistant Director- Care Services, including case management, educating the UNF community about the medical withdrawal process, and supporting students through the medical withdrawal process and their successful re-entry to the campus community.

Essential Duties

Job Function
General Duties:
The Care Services Specialist supports the Medical Withdrawal process and other Care Services tasks, as assigned by the Assistant Director - Care Services, including support of the MSW student intern(s).
Percentage Of Time Job Function
Policies, Committees, Partnerships:
The Care Services Specialist assists with the Medical Withdrawal Committee, including meeting with medical professional members, ensuring appropriate elements are reviewed by Committee, and deadlines followed appropriately.

Assists with monitoring general trends, keeping statistics, and updates to the appropriate stakeholders of the process.

Works with appropriate campus partners, including, but not limited to, Student Health Services, Counseling Center, PERCH, Academic Advising, and Enrollment Services.

Medical Withdrawal Cases:
The Care Services Specialist reviews all incoming medical withdrawal applications, ensures appropriate information is provided, and connects with students directly for a more personalized, integrated approach. A major responsibility of the Care Services Specialist position is interacting with students about their wellness and personal success plan, as well as connecting them to the appropriate resources or areas of campus for a well-rounded experience. Organizes all appropriate and relevant documentation for the application and review process.

Accepts all Medical Withdrawal appeals and ensures they are processed in a timely manner and in accordance within regulation deadlines.
Percentage Of Time Job Function
Medical Withdrawal Committee:
The Care Services Specialist serves as a liaison to the Medical Withdrawal Committee and provides support for pending cases by maintaining a working knowledge of all cases under review.

Supports the Medical Withdrawal Committee and Assistant Director - Care Services by providing logistical support, case management, and assists in maintaining the standard operating procedures.

Marginal Functions
The Care Services Specialist supports the development and maintenance of informational material and the departmental web page. Maintains confidentiality of student records. Other duties as assigned.

Other duties assigned by the Assistant Director - Care Services or Dean of Students.
Required Qualifications
A high school diploma and four years of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position
has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and
campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this
position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might
be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement
because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or
campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University
community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A
CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took
place. A CSA's responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are
required to complete an online or in-person training session. For more information
concerning the training sessions or CSAs, please contact the University Police Department
at (904) 620-2800 or the Office of the General Counsel at (904) 620-2828.

The holder of this position is designated as a "Responsible Employee" pursuant to their role under Title IX.
